Scot's Place

December 10, 2025

A few years ago, members of our extended family suffered the heartbreaking loss of their adult son, Scot, in a tragic accident. Recently, they returned to a place of beauty to scatter his ashes, and they captured that moment in a photograph filled with love, grief, and quiet reverence.

When they asked me to paint that image in my own style, I felt deeply honoured. As I studied the photo, I was moved by its stillness — the tenderness in the landscape, the way the light seemed to hold their memories. On the canvas, I wanted to give the moment even more depth… rich colour, more soul, and above all, a feeling of peace surrounding their son’s memory.

I poured my heart into every brushstroke. I hope that love comes through, and that the painting brings them even a small measure of comfort.
